Transition Policy

As you are aware ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 has been revised and issued as ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 respectively. Official issue date was 15^th September 2015.
Please be informed transition or New Certification requirements will be as follows:

1. The expiry date of certificates issued after 15.09.2015 for ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 will be only up to 31.08.2018.
2.  New applications for accreditation to include ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 in their scope of accreditation will not be accepted after 15 September 2017. Organisations applying after this date would have insufficient time to transition certificates before the deadline. Therefore all applications after 15 September 2017 will be to ISO 9001:2015 and/or ISO 14001:2015. New applicants with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 will have to follow the same transition requirements.
3. All transition activities shall be completed by 15 March 2018, to ensure sufficient time to resolve findings or other issues by the 15 September 2018 deadline.
4.  Any certificates for ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2014 remaining on the JAS-ANZ and BCert registers as of 15 September 2018 will be removed.
5. We will ensure that the evaluation of an organization’s conformance to the new requirements during the transition phase does not interfere with the client’s on-going conformance to ISO 9001:2008 and/or ISO 14001:2004. Your certificates will still be valid up to the 31.08.2018 until the certification to the new standards.
6. Organisations using ISO 9001:2008 and/or ISO 14001:2004
   Organisations using ISO 9001:2008 are recommended to take the following actions:
   1. You are encouraged to change to the new standard at the earliest opportunity.
   2. Identify Organisational gaps which need to be addressed to meet new requirements.
   3. Develop an implementation plan.
   4. Provide appropriate training and awareness for all parties that have an impact on the effectiveness of the organisation.
   5. Update the existing quality management system (QMS) to meet the revised requirements and provide verification of effectiveness.
   6. Where applicable, liaise with their Certification Body for transition arrangements.

7. Time of Transition Audit and Audit Duration for ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015

Transition audits could be conducted during a routine surveillance, recertification audit or a special audit. Where transition audits are carried out in conjunction with scheduled surveillance or recertification, additional time is likely to be required to ensure that all activities are covered for the existing and new standards.  Audit duration for each standard will take 1-2 days depending on the complexity of the organisation.
